Jurien de Jong claims that he knows where to find the body of Natalee Holloway who went missing a decade ago. Prosecutors, however, are persuaded otherwise. According to de Jong, the body is hidden in a crawl space of a Marriott holiday complex in Aruba. He also claims he was the last one to see her alive, apart from the attacker.
De Jong told prosecutors that he was in the vicinity of Marriott's Aruba Surf Club's construction site late on May 30, 2005. He allegedly saw a man chasing a woman and at first he thought they were just being playful. The next thing he saw was the man carrying the woman with her body appearing limp. "... He pulled (the woman) by the ankles inside the crawl space, stayed inside for a minute and then came out and closed the gap," de Jong said.
He tried to persuade the prosecutors that the reason he did not want to go to the police was his previous illegal activities. He was afraid he was going to be arrested. He stayed quiet for three years also because he feared retaliation from criminals he worked for.
He said he started “running out of possibilities” and decided to go to Aruba with a drill to inspect the site. He wanted to drill a hole in the hotel’s floor but his efforts were unsuccessful. Officials say that when Holloway went missing the construction site was not yet there. Google Earth, on the other hand, has images taken in June 2005 which depict what appears to be a construction site on that location.
